I changed my password but my browser automatically enters an old password that no longer works.
Most browsers have a password manager function that allows the user to store a password that will automatically be used at the login page for that account. This will cause problems if you reset the password but do not update it in your browser's password manager because it will continue to use the old password.
To clear saved passwords in your browser:
Internet Explorer 6.0 * Go to the "Tools" menu
* Click "Internet Options"
* Go to the "Content" tab
* Click the "Autocomplete" button
* Click the "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords" buttons
* Click the "OK" button
Internet Explorer 7.0+
- Go to the Tools menu (Alt + T).
- Choose Internet Options.
- Under the General Tab Look for Browsing History. Click Delete.
- In the Delete Browsing History window choose "Delete Passwords."
- Click Close.
Mozilla Firefox * Go to the "Tools" menu
* Click "Clear Private Data"
* Verify that only "Saved Passwords" is selected
* Choose Clear Private Data Now
Netscape 7.1 * Go to the "Tools" menu
* Click "Password Manager"
* Click "Manage Stored Passwords"
* Select the appropriate entries and click the "Remove" button
* Click the "Close" button
Macintosh On a Mac, you can access the browser features through the "Preferences" menu in OS X, and the "Edit" menu in OS 9.
